Year-on-year GDP growth in the first three quarters was 2.7%, which is a significant slowdown relative to last year and close to IMAD’s autumn forecast for 2019 as a whole (2.8%). Data on GDP growth in the third quarter otherwise show a faster-than-expected moderation of investment growth in particular. The slowdown in export growth is in line with expectations, while it is encouraging that growth…

The moderation of growth in foreign demand is reflected in more modest growth in export-oriented sectors of the Slovenian economy this year. In sectors that are mainly related to private consumption, activity has mostly been strengthening. Growth in household spending continues, amid further growth in disposable income. Employment growth remains fairly high particularly due to the hiring of…

GDP growth in Slovenia continues at a moderate pace; the deterioration of export expectations is reflected in lower export growth in some goods segments. The growth rates of goods exports and imports remain relatively high, which is, according to our estimate, to a great extent related to stronger trade and distribution activity in medicinal and pharmaceutical products. At the beginning of the second quarter, economic activity in Slovenia increased further in most sectors, while the growth of industrial production was lower than at the beginning of the year, reflecting more moderate imports. The growth of the Slovenian economy remained high in the first quarter; growth in exports and domestic consumption also continued. Slovenian Economic Mirror 2/2019
Favourable economic conditions continued at the beginning of the year. Confidence in the Slovenian economy has remained almost unchanged since the middle of last year. Stronger wage growth, alongside growth in social transfers, is…
Slovenian Economic Mirror 1/2019
The situation in the Slovenian economy continued to improve towards the end of 2018, though more slowly than in 2017. Lower export growth is a consequence of one-off domestic factors and weaker growth in economic activity in main trading partners. Activity in sectors that are more dependent on domestic demand continued to rise rapidly in the last months of 2018.
Slovenian Economic Mirror 6/2018
Euro area GDP growth remained modest in the third quarter; in October the IMF lowered slightly its GDP growth forecasts for the euro area for this year. The growth of the export part of the economy has slowed, while the growth of activities oriented predominantly to the domestic market is similar to last year. Employment growth has also eased amid somewhat weaker economic growth and relatively low…
Slovenian Economic Mirror 5/2018
Short-term economic activity and confidence indicators indicate a continuation of euro area GDP growth in the second quarter; uncertainty in the international environment is increasing. After the interruption early in the year, Slovenia has recorded a continuation of slightly more favourable GDP developments in the last few months. The labour market situation continues to improve. Inflation rose…
