T. Čelebič: Population's skills in Slovenia
The working paper analyses the educational structure and skills of the population, skills mismatches and participation of young people and adults in education. The educational structure of adults has improved, but the problem is their low skills, especially the low skills of older and less educated people. The participation of adults in life-long learning, which can significantly improve their skills and reduce skills mismatches, has declined since the beginning of the crisis. In the last few years, additional measures were introduced, which have improved the cooperation between upper secondary and tertiary education and the business sector, but demographic trends, the expected greater demand for educated working force and skills mismatches point to the need for a further strengthening of these measures.
